Career
When Chorão was 21 years old, he was in a
Santos bar called Creperie, and he was drunk. He had separated from his girlfriend with
whom he was married, and it was a band show called Matrix, the singer went out
to drink water, he wasted no time and got up on stage, and said:“Here, now it’s
me!” He picked up the microphone and started yelling, shouting, took a letter
to Suicidal Tendencies sort of on the improvisation. He was falling on top of
everybody, kind of boring drunk, but then a brat called him and said, “We’re in
need of a vocalist, don't you want to take a test tomorrow? ” The guys took the test at 2 pm, he arrived at
11 am. They gave him the lyrics, and it was in English, so it was
difficult to him, because his English is limited to name of skate maneuver, and a little of
cinema. Then
one of the members taught
him so so the music, the music and the band called What’s Up. He
bellowed, bellowed, bellowed, and when he left, he heard the guitarist
saying
“It's better we don't fix it”. Two days later, they were going to record
for a
compilation of radio 95, from Santos. The band had already sent a tape
with that song
and was selected, but in the meantime they fought and the vocalist left
the band. About
the album, the band did not say anything to him, and when he went to the
studio, he had been singing for two or three days. And he was very
hoarse,
after the test, the guys said, “Cool, your voice does not end!”. He
arrived home with no voice and stayed like that two days. He record
without any voice and even like that it was cool, he screamed the most,
even the studio guy praised him: “This
guy is very funny, he sings jumping, this brat has a personality, he
does not
know to sing anything, but he goes far”. But the record didn't was
finished, no one know why. When the band’s What’s Up bassist left the
band, Chorão met Champignon, the new bassist, Champignon was 12 year old
at the time, who was to become
a band partner in Charlie Brown Jr.
